  2. Thanks, Russell, for another video. This video, in my opinion, is one of the most interesting, vivid, colorful and memorable.
The beautiful and fabulous Izmailovo Kremlin and a very diverse flea market are just a Mecca for designers, collectors, tourists and just for curious people who want to buy something unusual.
    Great!
    Shoot more places like this.
It seems to me that people will be interested in places – the museum of weapons, the Armory and the main military temple, striking in its grandeur, beauty and history.

  8. I’m sure you need to have thick skin to walk around filming. the first time I got yelled at for doing that I probably wouldn’t do it again there. I’m glad the video worked out for you this time. The buildings around the flea market are really neat!

  9. The russian term for flea market is — «барахолка» barakholka from «барахло» barakhlo which is “old / useless / exchangeable stuff”, not to be confused with term “products” — it is exactly “not products”, there isn’t any product value or any produser-client relations, it’s stuff from owner to owner. Equivalent russian term for this kind of market is «птичий рынок» ptichiy market from «птицы» birds, because this kind of market often associated with open air pet store, where one can buy small pet like bird, kitty, dog and such. This kind of market like in Ismaylovo also not to be confused with term «ярмарка» yarmarka because yarmarka is basically product market where producers sell their own product, it’s often food related, but also craft related too, say one can sell tomatoes or berries, and other handmade scarfs or tables.

  10. I think Ismailovo was more authentic in the mid 1990’s. Now its much more touristy and polished. To be honest, I never found that much to buy there. All the soviet era palekh agitlak and soviet finift could be bought in Yaroslav and Rostov Velikiye.

  11. In the US we call them flea markets and fairs. Some of them are inside and outside. We also have thrift stores.
